This document contains a summary of some of the Jucy Rental Conditions. For full detailed conditions refer to the conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement at pick-up. All prices quoted in this document are in Australian dollars.
Protection Package
Personal Injury
Personal Injury is covered in most cases through Registration Third Party Insurance. We strongly recommend that all people traveling in Australia take out Personal Travel Insurance.
Standard Excess
All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first AU$1,900 ("the excess"). For drivers 18-20 years of age, the Excess is AU$2,500. This is of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, overhead and underbody damage, tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in, vandalism. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage). The Excess applies in respect of each claim, not rental.
The Excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The Excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party. Please note that Third Party Claims can take months to resolve.
The Excess can be reduced, in most circumstances, by the purchase of Excess Reduction Option 1 or Excess Reduction Option 2.

If you do not take any reduction option but you would like to cover front windscreen and tyre damage, Jucy also offer a Tyre/Windscreen Waiver:

Note: if one driver is aged 18-20 years and the other driver is aged 21+ years, the 18-20 year Excess conditions apply (i.e. $2500 Excess).
Exclusions:
1. Standard Excess, Excess Reduction Option 1 and Excess Reduction Option 2 do not cover any water related damage, which includes but is not limited to:
a) any vehicle submersion
b) creek or river crossing
c) driving through low plain flooded areas
d) beach driving
2. Personal belongings are not covered. We recommend the hirer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and that they take out personal insurance.
3. All Excess Reduction is void if the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached. The hirer will be responsible for the total cost of any damage. This will also include any damage caused by wilful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
4. Standard Excess, Excess Reduction Option 1 & 2 does not cover the incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol). The hirer will be responsible for any associated cost.
5. The hirer will be responsible for the cost to retrieve or recover a vehicle which has become bogged, regardless of the Excess Reduction Package taken.
6. The hirer will be responsible for the cost to replace keys which have become lost, or retrieval of keys which have been locked in a vehicle.
7. The hirer will be responsible for any costs relating to overhead or underbody damage, tyre damage (unless hirer has taken the Windscreen/Tyre Waiver or Excess Reduction Option 2 or the Inclusive Rate), damage to lights or vehicle interior and damage caused from the use of snow chains and roof racks, however caused.
Vehicle Security Deposit
On pick up of the vehicle, a Vehicle Security Deposit is payable. The amount is determined by the Protection Package selected.
- If you do not take Excess Reduction Option 1 or Excess Reduction Option 2, the Security Deposit is AU$1,900 (AU$2,500) payable by credit card (signed credit card imprint with authorisation).
- If Excess Reduction Option 1 has been taken the Security Deposit is AU$1,000 payable by credit card (signed credit card imprint with authorisation).
- If Excess Reduction Option 2 has been taken the Security Deposit is AU$100payable by credit card (signed credit card imprint with authorisation).
- If the Inclusive Rate has been taken, there is no Security Deposit processed but Jucy do record your credit card details.
The Security Deposit is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned on time, undamaged and with fuel full. We reserve the right to retain a $100 cleaning fee if the vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition. The toilet and waste water tank (if applicable) must be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle, or an additional $100 cleaning fee will be retained. In the instance of Excess Reduction Option 2, the credit card voucher will be returned to the hirer.

Rental Duration
When calculating the number of days a vehicle is rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless of pick-up time. The day of the vehicle's return is counted as the final day of the rental. When a rental moves from one rate season into the next, the calculation is based on both rates.
- Minimum rental period is 5 days.
- Minimum rental period for one-way rentals is 10 days.
- Early return of vehicle does not entitle the hirer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental.
- Minimum rental periods are subject to change during peak periods (e.g. Christmas).
One Way Rentals
One-way rentals are available between all branch locations. One-way fees are not charged for 10-day rentals. Shorter one-way rentals can be requested but a fee may apply.

All branches are closed on Christmas Day (25 December), Boxing Day (26 December) and New Years Day (01 January).
Late drop-off's
If the Customer wishes to drop-off the Vehicle after business hours, they must first get approval from the destination branch.
Subject to approval, a fee of AU$150 is applicable and the Customer will be required to pay an extra day’s Excess Reduction Premium (based on the Excess Reduction Option selected) as they will be held responsible for the Vehicle up until the time that it is checked in by a Jucy staff member.
Transfers
Jucy does not provide transfers in Australia. Clients must make their own way to and from the Jucy branches.
Exchange Rate / Currency Variations
All Jucy credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Jucy does not accept any liability for variances up or down.
Credit Cards
If a credit card is presented as payment, the credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer. Preferred credit cards are Visa, MasterCard and American Express (a 4% surcharge applies for any American Express transactions).
Driver’s Licence
- A current and full state or national driver's licence is required per driver at pick-up.
- Provisional licences are not accepted (exception: green provisional licences from Australian residents are accepted).
- Copies or translations of driver's licences are not accepted.
- If the licence is not readable in English or does not have a photo, an international driver's licence must accompany the original licence.
- Drivers do not have to hold their licence for a minimum amount of time before hiring an Jucy vehicle, but the licence must be valid for the duration of the rental.
Age Restrictions
Drivers must be 18 years of age or over. (Special insurance conditions apply for drivers 18 - 20 years of age). A medical certificate stating that the customer is fit to drive the vehicle they have booked for the duration of the hire is required for drivers over the age of 75.
Kitchen Kit
The Kitchen Equipment (crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils) for all campervans/motorhomes is included in the daily rental rate at no extra cost.
Change of Drop-off Destination
If the hirer wishes to change the drop-off destination after the Rental has commenced, they must first obtain authorisation from the destination branch. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of up to AU$500 may apply.
Booking Amendments
- Prior to pick-up, Salamanda Travel can assist with booking amendments up until the date of pick-up. This is subject to vehicle availability and may result in rate adjustments.
- After pick-up, if the hirer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must contact Jucy direct and obtain authorisation from the destination branch. This is subject to availability and any extra rental days are charged at Jucy's standard (brochure) rates. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone on confirmation of the rental extension.
Failure to obtain authorisation will result in a fee of AU$150 in addition to the daily rate.
Road Restrictions
Vehicles must not be used on any unsealed road (being a road not sealed with a hard material such as tar, bitumen or concrete). Off road conditions include (but are not limited to) fire trails, beaches, sand, tracks, fields or paddocks The only exception to this is reasonable use of access roads to recognized commercial campgrounds.
Jucy reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.
On-road Assistance
Any problems associated with the Vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported to Jucy within 24 hours in order to give Jucy the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. Failure to do so may compromise any claims for compensation Jucy reserves the right to not accept liability for any claims submitted after this period. Change of Vehicle
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, Jucy reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to a refund.
Vehicle Category
Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle category.
Infringements
Jucy reserves the right to charge the Customer for any speeding, parking or toll way fines, associated administration costs and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the Vehicle. The administration fee per incident will be AU$60.
Voluntary Downgrade
Should the hirer decide to take a lesser vehicle than booked they will not be entitled to any refund.
Important
Jucy reserves the right to refuse any rental at its discretion.
Animals
No animals are permitted in our vehicles, excluding guide dogs.
Personal and Company Cheques
Personal and Company cheques will not be accepted as payment for rentals at the time of pick-up. Personal or Company cheques are not acceptable as the vehicle security deposit.
