Christmas in Australia is hot, sunny and a great time to get away in a campervan. For campervan hire, Christmas is a very popular time to hit the road or set up camp and just relax. The busiest time is the period between 24 December and 02 January. Also, Christmas marks the start of the summer school holidays in Australia so there are a lot of familes travelling at this time. International travellers also head to Australia in December/January to beat the northern winter and take advantage of Australia's parks, beaches and mountains.

So the best advice is to book early! Lots of people get in early and secure their campervans well in advance, so this reduces the number of campervans and motorhomes available for Christmas. With reduced availability, prices start to increase (similar to how flight prices operate). The 4 Berth campervans and 6 Berth motorhomes always book out first, followed by the 2 Berth (Shower/Toilet) campervans. Generally there are some 2 Berth campervans still floating around closer to Christmas, but the more popular campervan hire locations (such as Sydney and Brisbane) even book out of these vehicles.

Things to consider for your Christmas campervan hire:

• Most rental companies offer Early Bird Discounts if you book at least 120 days in advance.


• Campervan hire rates are also subject to change each week, based on supply and demand. So as the campervans start to book out for Christmas, the prices will increase.


• The larger 4 and 6 Berth campervans will book out first for Christmas, normally months in advance.


• The earler you book, the more choice you will have when it comes to the range of campervans and motorhomes.
  
All campervan hire companies have longer minimum rental periods over Christmas. Normally this starts at 10 days.


• Have a think about where you want to stay over the Christmas / New Year period. We recommend that you overnight in caravan parks but these book out as well, especially those parks close to rivers and beaches.
