There is an electrical socket (3-point) in all Gold Service sleeper cabins. In Red Service, electrical power points are located in the Red Kangaroo Service Lounge and in the shared toilet facilities.
It is safe to operate electrical appliances such as a laptop computer however we strongly recommend that you use a surge arrester. Access to the Internet is not available on train apart from your own wireless connection (if available). Hairdryers and ironing boards are available but they must be requested at the time of booking as availability is very limited.

| You can bring your own special dietary needs. You cannot bring your own alcohol or hot food. Some food purchased on-train may need to be disposed of prior to leaving the train due to strict state quarantine rulings. |

Meals, snacks and beverages can be paid with credit card however a minimum amount applies. EFTPOS facilities are not available onboard. There are also no cash out or ATM facilities onboard. You must board the train with sufficient cash on hand for required purchases during the journey ahead. |

Most standard size motor vehicles with standard modifications can be taken on the train as part of GSR's Motorail service. There are specific height restrictions that apply depending on the route booked. You must disclose the exact height, width and wheel track measurements at the time of booking.
Motorail is available on all GSR trains (Indian Pacific, The Ghan and newly re-introduced on The Overland) subject to the GSR terms, conditions and measurements being met. Guests have no access to the vehicle whilst in transit until the vehicle is unloaded at its final destination.

All GSR Trains are entirely smoke free in accordance with the NSW Smoke-Free Environment Act 2004, the SA Tobacco Productions Regulation Act 1997 and the WA Health (Smoking in Enclosed Public Places) Regulations 2004. The Customer agrees to comply with GSR's No Smoking Policy in force and as amended from time to time.
Smoking is also not permitted on the train platforms at any time. |

Infants up to 3 years of age travel free of charge when nursed by a parent. Each fare paying parent is restricted to nursing only one infant free of charge. If you want your infant to occupy their own seat / sleeper berth, your infant is to be booked as a Child and the applicable Child fare will be charged.
Upon request at the time of booing, a cot can be provided for guests occupying a Gold Service Twin Cabin. Due to space restrictions, cots cannot be arranged for Gold Service Single Cabins, or in Red Service Cabins or Daynighter Seats.
Prams, capsules, baby or booster seats and other baby equipment cannot be taken on board the train. These items must be checked in as stored luggage. |

Animals cannot travel with guests aboard the train. You must arrange directly with specialist animal transportation.
The only animals permitted on GSR services are specially trained dogs for
the vision and hearing impaired.
